The 2018 MET Gala is sadly over, but hey, at least we have a bunch of incredible ensembles to just stare at all day.
So many great looks, so little time.
From Rihanna to Chadwick Boseman to Kim Kardashian, almost everyone who was anyone brought it to the 2018 MET Gala and my friends, they did NOT disappoint. Obviously kicking off our best dressed list is none other than one of the 2018 Met Gala’s honorary co-chairs, Rihanna AKA Rihzus.
Every year, Rihanna dresses to the NINES for the MET Gala and obviously this year was no different. RiRi shook us all when she showed up for the event looking like the Pope in a stunning and beaded number from Maison Margiela complete with a bejeweled papal hat.
RiRi definitely did not disappoint, but neither did Blake Lively. Blake showed up in an Atelier Versace creation that just SCREAMED Heavenly Bodies. She looked absolutely gorgeous and when Blake told Vogue back in March that this year’s dress is her QUOTE “favorite dress ever” we clearly weren’t ready for what she had in store for us peasants.
SZA also turned heads on the carpet when she pulled up in a stunning blush colored gown by Versace. I mean, the dress in itself is already incredible, but SZA’s head piece just added that extra bit of pizzazz that we all didn’t know we needed.
It’s time to give the men some love because this might’ve been the first Met Gala in a while where a good majority of the guys didn’t just show up in dinky and boring suits. We obviously have to give Chadwick Boseman a shout out because seriously, just look at that Atelier Versace creation. The gold crosses and blood red tassels on his cape and gold swirls on his pants definitely took the suit to the next level. Not to mention his Christian Louboutin loafers were the perfect match to his totally on-theme look.
Another guy who literally blew us all away was Jared Leto. He definitely took the night’s theme of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination and ran with it. I mean, having the long hair, beard, and golden crown definitely helped his overall look. Jared literally looks like the second coming of Jesus.
Nick Jonas showed up in a Dolce & Gabanna number that channeled the theme with a reported 24k gold thread stitched throughout the tux, all while wearing a gold cross necklace.
Not many people can say they nailed their Met Gala debut, but then again, not many people are Cardi B. The queen of queens showed up to the red carpet in a custom cream Moschino gown encrusted with pearls, crystals, and gems with a giant cream overskirt and matching headpiece. She literally killed it.
Like Cardi B, Ariana Grande also made her Met Gala debut last night and to channel the night’s theme, Ari opted for a Vera Wang creation that was inspired by Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgment” painting inside the Sistine Chapel.
Kim Kardashian showed up in a STUNNING gold chainmail Versace dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. While her ensemble was a bit more simple in comparison to her peers, her makeup and high half pony truly took the entire lewk to the next level.
And last but not least is Gigi Hadid who wore a blue and tan Versace gown that was clearly inspired by the stained glass window usually found inside churches. G kept her hair simple with a couple of gold bobby pins and barely wore any other accessories. But if we’re being honest, a dress like that definitely does NOT need any accessories at all.
So, that’s it for our list. I honestly cannot tell you how hard it was to narrow everything down because everyone who attended last night deserved to be on it.
