Liam Payne does have new music coming out, but it sounds like we’ll have to wait a while for his debut album.

Don’t worry, you guys… there’s an EP coming instead.

Okay, so we know this isn’t exactly the news you wanted to hear, but Liam Payne recently took to Twitter to tell fans that he’s scrapping what was supposed to be his debut album. Uhh… WHAT?!

The statement said, QUOTE, “As you may know, the last few months have seen some big changes for me… I looked at some of the songs on my album which were done a while ago and they felt from another age.” Liam went on to say that he wants his first major release to truly represent who he is, and while we were SO looking forward to it, we have to admit that we understand exactly where he’s coming from.

Of course, the news came as quite a shock to fans. Earlier this summer, Liam revealed on Good Morning America that his debut, full-length album would be coming in September. Don’t worry, though, because new music is still on the way. In Lieu of his debut album, Liam will be releasing an EP instead.

After explaining that he’s back in the studio working on the album, he said, QUOTE, “In the meantime, this EP is a collection of songs that I’m really proud of and want you all to hear… tell me what you think.”

So it’s not all bad news! After the EP announcement, Liam tweeted, QUOTE, “FIRST TIME 24.08.18,” so he made it clear that we can expect new music next week. Then, Liam teased the release on Instagram, and even revealed that we can expect four brand new songs! Ahh… we can’t wait!
