Post Malone first got some time on a foggy closed off stage to start performing “Rockstar” which actually won Song of the Year earlier in the show. He came out sporting a three piece outfit covered in neon smiley faces.

Part way through he was joined by 21 Savage in a red velour top to rap his verse and finish out the song in harmony.

But theeen- plot twist – Post picked up a silver glitter guitar and announced Aerosmith. A huge projection lifted to reveal the band performing Dream On.

Post really revealed some insane guitar skills as he rocked out beside Joe Perry before transitioning to Aerosmith’s 1975 hit “Toys in the Attic.”

And while you may be thinking this is an odd mashup of people, Post Malone actually tried out for a metalcore band called Crown the Empire and apparently didn’t make the cut because his guitar string broke during the audition. Pretty good news for him considering his later successes, am I right?

Anyway he has done covers of both Nirvana and Green Day, so it’s safe to assume performing alongside the legendary Aerosmith was a career highlight for the rapper.

It was definitely a rockin’ way to close the 2018 MTV VMAs, but now we want to hear from you guys! Was this one of your favourite performances of the night?
